It’s not often I write about the same place twice, but Mudgie’s Deli & Wine Shop is just that good. I’ve been meaning to try their Tempeh Reuben and I finally got the opportunity a couple weeks ago.
Mixed olive tapenade: Served with house made crackers. Fresh, salty, and delicious. Need I say more? I like the use of different olives. It helps keeps things balanced. The crackers were hearty and went well with the tapenade.
Tempeh Reuben: Grilled marinated tempeh with vegan cheese, Brinery Kraut, and vegan Thousand Island dressing on grilled rye. I opted for Swiss and not vegan cheese just because I am picky with vegan cheese. Huge portion and delicious! The tempeh was very meaty and had a nice texture. I wouldn’t say that it tasted exactly like a traditional Reuben with corned beef, because it didn’t. However, it still satisfied my craving for a briney, salty, sandwich! Toasting the bread is key. It prevented it from getting soggy because this sandwich dripped down my hand with every bite. Can’t beat it for $12. I will definitely be back for this again!
Bella: Roasted red peppers, marinated artichoke hearts, fire roasted tomatoes, olive tampenade, chick peas, sunflower sprouts, mixed greens, and sunflower seeds rolled in flat bread, served with a side of balsamic vinaigrette. Fresh, super healthy, and yummy. The kind of sandwich that you just feel good eating. The flatbread was nice as well. It was hearty and think enough to withstand the juices from this sandwich. I don’t think a normal wrap would’ve done the trick. My favorite thing about this wrap was the balsamic vinaigrette. It was tangy, with a slight sweetness. I couldn’t get enough.
It’s not a surprise at how many vegan and vegetarian options Mudgie’s Deli & Wine Shop has on their menu. Everything is made from scratch using the finest, organic ingredients, locally sourced, and really fucking good. Mudgie’s Deli & Wine Shop offers beer and wine to go at a discounted price. Mudgie’s Deli & Wine Shop also delivers so you can enjoy their delicious eats from the comfort of your couch. How neat is that? That’s pretty neat!
