My work wife, Marisa told me about Iron Gate Bar recently and ever since I’ve been dying to try it. Iron Gate Bar, which opened around Labor Day 2021 is perfectly located right in the heart of Downtown Wyandotte. With a menu well balanced with vegan/vegetarian items, meat & seafood, there is a something for everyone. Choose from bites perfect for sharing, an array of vegetable dishes, flatbreads, and main courses.
We started with a couple cocktails.
Triple B
Bourbon, black tea, rose, lemon, blueberry simple syrup. For being a bourbon cocktail, this wasn’t as boozy as I’d expected, but I’m not complaining. Light, fruity, and refreshing. The black tea was probably my favorite ingredient and added a nice boldness. Warning: Whatever delicious garnish is on the rim may end up on your nose as you sip!
This is what happens when you tell the server to “surprise me.” You end up with the prettiest drink in the bar! P.S the flower is edible, too!
Then, we made our way to the food.
Vegan pork & Ginger Dumplings:
PIEROGIES
Shishitos
Preserved lemon, tahini sauce, sea salt. These shishito peppers were amazing! The combo of the lemon and sea salt was brilliant. The nice blistered char on the outside is always nice.
Marinated Beets
Avocado, citrus, whipped ricotta, pistachio brittle. I’m a huge fan of beets so I, of course, liked these. This was another dish the chef brought out special just for me. This dish was pretty straight forward, but that pistachio brittle was very unique! Think candied nuts, adding crunch and a sweet finish!
Wild Salmon
Flowering cauliflower, green goddess, kale crisps. The salmon was moist on the inside, with a nicely seasoned crust on the outside. The green goddess was delicious! Fresh and bright, tasting like it came straight from the garden. This was the first time I’ve had flowering cauliflower and it was delicious. It was a nice change from the traditional sides.
The outpouring of hospitality we experienced from the moment we walked in the door to the time we left, made us feel so special! The team at Iron Gate is focused on the dining experience and it shows. The food is creative, inventive, and really freakin’ good. Swanky, sexy, and classy, the dining space was very impressive as well. Iron Gate Bar is a great addition to Wyandotte and I can’t wait to go back. Be sure to check out Iron Gate Bar’s special drink menu during the Fire & Flannel Festival Sept 24-26, 2021, Downtown Wyandotte. And if you haven’t been yet, go check em out, ask for servers Justin or Jessica, and tell them Jewell from the Bite Tonight sent ya!
Thanks for the recommendation, Marisa!
