Top 3 dishes at Coastal Thai

Noodles· Restaurant reviews· Vegan/Vegetarian

One of my favorite Thai spots, Coastal Thai, is located in Downtown Wyandotte, MI. It’s also convenient that Coastal Thai happens to be located right down the street from my 9-5, so you know what that means. Endless fried rice and pad Thai for lunch pretty much whenever I want it! I often opt for Thai food, because it’s easy to customize and make vegetarian, I can control my spice level, and I love Thai flavors. Every dish I have had at Coastal Thai has been good, but here are my top three favorites.

3. When I am in the mood for something different, I get Pad Thai Curry (with mixed vegetables). Stir fry, thin noodle with bean sprout, pea pod, carrot, baby corn, bell pepper, water chestnut, mushroom, onion, broccoli, and egg in a yellow curry sauce. If you are a Pad Thai person and like curry, you will love this dish. Its a delicious marriage of sweet, spicy, sour, and spicy. The sauce is thick and coats the noodles so perfectly. Try it!

2. When I am feeling noodles, I get Veggie Pad Thai. Stir fry, thin noodle with bean sprout, pea pod, carrot, baby corn, bell pepper, water chestnut, mushroom, onion, broccoli, and egg in a slightly sweet peanut sauce, topped with crushed peanuts.

Tip: When ordering vegetarian (meatless), be sure to specify you want mixed vegetables so you get a little bit more to your pad Thai. Otherwise, it can be a little plain with just noodles, bean sprout, and egg.

And, (drum roll please), the #1 top dish at Coastal Thai is…..

Pineapple Fried Rice. Peas, carrots, cashews, pineapple, and egg. I order this with fried tofu (you can get your protein of choice, or veggie), medium spiced with extra egg. The fried rice is perfectly cooked, with that dark brown color. The fried tofu adds a crunchy texture. This dish has a touch of heat, sweetness from the pineapple, and nuttiness from the cashew. My favorite part is the big pieces of egg!

Tip: The dishes at Coastal Thai can be made vegan by skipping the egg.

The staff at Coastal Thai is so nice and service never disappoints. I never get tired of the dishes at Coastal Thai. There’s never an “Oh they made it good this time” experience, because Coastal Thai makes it good every time! And that’s important when I have a serious hankering for my favorite fried rice.
