Taco Bros

Blog· Restaurant reviews· Vegan/Vegetarian

17 Feb

Taco Bros opened up at the end of 2019 in Downtown Wyandotte, MI. Two brothers got together to bring homestyle Mexican food Downriver. With recipes passed down through their family, Taco Bros offers street style tacos, burritos, burrito bowls, tortas, hotdogs, fries, plus vegan options!

This isn’t just another Mexican joint, folks. Taco Bros allows guests to substitute any meat with Beyond Chorizo or Adobo (chicken) and they offer vegan cheese (Tofutti brand). Additionally, Taco Bros offers Beyond Brat Dogs.

Loaded Nachos

Vegan chorizo, nacho cheese, pickled jalapeno, pico de gallo, radish, served with homemade salsa and sour cream. This was my first time trying Beyond chorizo and it was good. It wasn’t dry or salty as some of the meat substitutes can be. It was flavorful and “meaty.” I liked that each chip was covered with toppings. This is very important with nachos. Otherwise, you get left with naked, plain chips. No beauno!

Tip: Add grilled onions, jalapeno, sliced radish for free!

Taco Bros cooks everything to order so each dish is fresh. The service was good and the owner made it a point to walk over to each table to make sure every guest had everything they needed. This isn’t something you see at a quick service counter type restaurant and it was nice. One comment I have is that Taco Bros should offer actual china and silverware instead of carryout containers/cutlery for dining in. Oh, and to cut the radishes a tad smaller. Otherwise, the experience was positive. I will definitely be back to try the tacos!

More of Lyon, France! Must Eat: - French flan More of Lyon, France!

Must Eat:

- French flan at Duclef Cafe @duclef_cafe_patisserie Super creamy, yet light. The best flan ever. Really good coffee and pastries.

- Praline Brioche at @pralus_laboulangerie. Pink is the classic. Sweet and nutty. We also tried chocolate which was our favorite.

- Escargot. Most restaurants have it. Don’t be afraid, order it. Buttery, garlicky, delicious.

Must See/Do:

- Roman Theater. Ruins, very cool.

- Notre Dame Cathedral. We liked it better than the one in Paris. Beautiful inside and outside. You could see it lit up at night on the hill across the river.

- Le Bal des Ardents. Bookstore with a cool doorway arch of books. Down the street is Carmelo, a really good Italian spot. Plan these two things together.

- Traboules. Secret passageways between the streets, some the public can still access. Marked with a blue lion. Very cool! Pictured are two popular ones: Maison de Crible - Tour Rose and Traboule et Cour des Voraces.

- Place des Jacobsins. Beautiful square with a fountain in the center. Artists were sketching and painting it. It was very cool.

- There are also gardens you can check out. We skipped this due to time and it being October.

The city is full of great food, culture, and things to do. Stay in Vieux Lyon. Right along the river. You can walk anywhere within 10-30 min. Safe, beautiful, and lovely.
