Chorizo Enchiladas: Roasted Peppers, Braised Leeks, Butternut Squash. This sounded too good to pass up. The peppers and leeks kept this dish authentic while the butternut squash offered a unique change from your everyday enchilada. The butternut squash also added a sweetness that complimented the spicy chorizo. I really liked the sauce on top, I just wish there was more of it. Nothing a little hot sauce can’t fix!
Horseradish Potato Croquettes: Smoked Salmon, Apple Butter, Chives, Crème Fraîche. Good, but I was sad there wasn’t more of the creamy horseradish. Me, being a Polish girl, I pretty much grew up spreading fresh horseradish all over ham and fresh kielbasa. For an ingredient to be included in the name of a dish, it should be a little more present. These were nice and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, but the flavors were very subtle. The apple butter was very nice with a smooth sweetness. The creme fraiche added a slight tang that was good with the salmon. These just needed more horseradish!
Quiche (of the day): Quiche (of the day): Seasonal veggies, cheese, served with side salad, lightly dressed with an herb viniagrette. I really liked the earthy mushrooms paired with the mild cheese. The inside of the quiche was light and fluffy, yet creamy and delicate. The outside formed a nice crust without being overdone and rubbery as eggs sometimes can get. The bright, Summery salad, lit up my tastebuds. The lemon-y viniagrette was fresh and was a nice choice to accompany the quiche.
Short Rib Hash: Short Rib Hash: Roasted Potato, Fried Egg, Horseradish Sauce. Again, the horseradish sauce was subtle, but was a nice creamy addition to the hash. The egg was cooked perfectly, not too runny, with that nice crispy outer edge that I love. Once the yolk broke, it poured over the roasted potatoes and tender short rib. A nice horseradish zip would’ve taken this dish to the next level.
Executive Chef Marc Djozlija and the Wright & Co team are creating seasonal small plates designed to be shared. In addition, Wright & Co also offers exceptional wines, world beers, and a rotating cocktail menu. Our server took the time to explain the menu and offer suggestions. I am a fan of ordering a bunch of different dishes and sampling each one so the small plates concept really fit in with my style. Wright & Co keeps their dishes simple, incorporating seasonal ingredients to achieve heightened flavors. This allows the natural flavors of each component to come forward, without having to add a ton of extras to boost tastes. I can’t wait to go back for the dinner menu and try the Tuna Tartare, Roasted Beets, and the Homemade Potato Chips.
