Pie Sci has been serving creative and inventive pizzas since the Summer of 2016. With a theme that combines pizza and science, Pie Sci has quickly become one of my favorite new spots. I just love the pies that Pie Sci comes up with. Pie Sci has their everyday staples like Poblano Picasso (Red sauce with muenster and white cheddar cheeses, roasted poblano peppers, topped with house-made corn pico de gallo), as well as a weekly rotating specialty pie and a brunch menu on Sunday. Expect to find unique specialty pizzas such as Cashew Rules Everything Around Me with Chimichurri sauce, mushroom, lemon asparagus, house made cashew cheese & strawberry-rhubarb-mint drizzle. Some of the toppings seem a little weird, but have trust. It’s like food science, the chemistry of each different flavor works so well together and the end result is pretty damn good. Pie Sci also offers a BYO (build your own) pie option for those who may not be able to choose from one of their delicious, mouthwatering concoctions.
My vegan friend and yoga buddy, Kelli told me I needed to try Pie Sci so we stopped in for lunch after class one day. We got each pie vegan (vegan cheese and vegan meat). See how they ranked.
*Any pizza can be made gluten free and almost any pizza can be made vegan, both for an additional charge* Fuck yea!
Fleetwood Mac
White pizza with mozzarella and ground beef, topped with romaine lettuce, tomato, white onion, pickles, 1000 Island and mustard drizzle, on a sesame seed crust. By far, my favorite! This was one of the best speciality pizza’s I’ve ever had. Pie Sci uses Follow Your Heart brand vegan cheese which is one of the better ones. It melts great and tastes pretty good. I’ve never tasted vegan beef before, but it was good. The combo of the tomato, onion, pickles, with the mustard and 1000 island drizzle was amazing! Tangy, sweet, and delicious.
Veggie D
Red sauce with fresh mushroom, red onion, bell pepper, artichoke, mozzarella. Solid veggie pie. I am a big fan of artichoke on a pizza so this one was an easy choice. Pie Sci uses fresh ingredients The only thing I would suggest to make this pie better was to get it cooked well done. I prefer a super crispy crust and with all the toppings, this pie lost some of that crispiness.
Date Upton (brunch menu)
White pizza with mozzarella, dates, thinly sliced apple, gorgonzola, bacon, balsamic drizzle. We wanted to finish our lunch with a dessert pie and we could’ve picked a better one! The flavors of the tangy balsamic, sweet apple and date were delicious. Instead of bacon, this pies vegan option came with grilled tempeh (fermented soybean) which was surprisingly delicious! It was crispy and salty, a healthy substitution for bacon. This pie encompassed the perfect balance of sweet and tangy without being too rich.
I like that Pie Sci isn’t solely a vegan/vegetarian restaurant. They offer options to cater to many dietary restrictions, but make it so that everyone can enjoy their pies. Super smart, Pie Sci! Pie Sci makes it easy to order vegetarian/vegan without losing out on flavor. Pie Sci also offers catering and bike delivery. Check em out!
