Detroit: Aunt Nee’s

Blog· Brand reviews· Detroit

28 Oct

Aunt Nee’s, which started as a family hobby making chips and salsa, has now grown into a Detroit brand we all know and love. With three different kinds of salsa, guacamole, and tortilla chips, you can really taste the quality and passion that goes into every bite. It’s no surprise, Aunt Nee’s won the Scovie Award for Best Fresh Salsa is 2018. Carlos Parisi, who currently runs the company, can be found at Eastern Market at the weekends, selling delicious Aunt Nee’s chips, salsa, and guac. You can also find Aunt Nee’s in stores across metro Detroit including Kroger, Whole Foods, Honey Bee Market, Westborn Market, Hollywood Market, and more. Store locations can be found on the Aunt Nee’s website, www.auntnees.com.

Tortilla Chips

Made with just 4 ingredients including locally grown, GMO free corn. Super crunchy, really fresh, and the perfect tool to scoop up the delicious salsa into my mouth!

Medium Salsa

Specialty salsa with red pepper, spices, and a kick. With the first bite, I could taste fresh ingredients, garlic, and the spice came at the end. It wasn’t overly spicy, yet had good flavor.

Mild Salsa

Specialty salsa with less of a kick. The perfect mild salsa! You can taste the fresh garlic, cilantro, onions, and tomatoes right off the bat. I like that this salsa still has some texture to it. This is the perfect salsa for those who don’t like a lot of heat, but love flavor.

Mango Salsa

The most complex in flavor, taking you on a journey from a slight sweet of mango, through the savory of cilantro, garlic, and onion, finishing with a slight back of the palate smoke and heat from the chipotle. This salsa was my favorite! A little sweet, with a little heat. The chipotle was mild and not overly smoky. This mango salsa was very addicting, I couldn’t stop eating it.

If you haven’t tried Aunt Nee’s, get out there and pick up some chips and salsa right away! It’s a healthy snack, perfect as a gift, or just for yourself while you’re sitting on the couch watching reruns of Schitt’s Creek on a Friday night. And the tortilla bag is paper which is not only good for freshness, but also the environment.
