Last month, I was invited to sample the menu of a new breakfast/lunch spot in Northville, MI called Cracked: An A.M. Addiction. Cracked: An A.M. Addiction, which was founded by family owned, Michigan based restaurant group, Inspired Concepts, opened it’s doors, April 30th, 2018. Cracked: An A.M. Addiction has an old school diner feel with bright, bold colors, and creative egg-inspired decor. I am happy to share with everyone my experience, because it was full of delicious eats that you guys have to try!
Cracked: An A.M. Addiction supports local brands by partnering with Zingerman’s Coffee and Michigan Bread, and utilizes fresh, locally sourced ingredients in their dishes. Additionally to supporting local, Inspired Concepts, Cracked’s founder, is doing great things for the communities they serve. This includes sponsoring and supporting several causes, such as Special Olympics, at-risk youth programs and organizations focused on homelessness.
With a menu consisting of omelets, bennies (my jam), sandwiches, salads, signature dishes, pancakes, french toast, and healthy options, Cracked: An A.M. Addiction has something to satisfy everyone’s craving. Cracked takes brunch classics such as Eggs Benedict and puts their own innovative twist on it with the Greek Benny featuring feta and kalamata olives. Can’t decide what to order? You don’t have to with flights! Cracked: An A.M. Addiction offers flights of multiple menu items including the Cracked Bacon (original, sriracha, cajun, or peppered), and Pancakes (Luau, Funky Monkey, Berry Burst, CinnAmazing). Check em out!
Cracked Bacon (peppered): Thick cut bacon with that perfect balance of crispy and chewy. The bacon added a nice kick to the sweet and salty flavors.
Emily and I started with the Brunchos: This dish combines two of my favorite things: breakfast and nachos. Waffle fries topped with with a blanket of melted cheddar cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon, jalapeños, sour cream and scallions, served with a side of fresh, home made salsa. The use of waffle fries was brilliant because they acted as the ideal crispy tool to transfer each bite of the breakfast nachos into my mouth. The scrambled eggs were good, but a fried egg with a rich, drippy yolk would really take this dish up a notch. Everything is better with a fried egg!
Lonestar Skillet: Spicy house made chili topped with a fried egg, sour cream, cheddar cheese and jalapeños served over Fritos® in a warm skillet. Really good flavor with a kick of heat. I love that this skillet is served over Fritos. The fried egg was key, when we broke the yolk, it poured all over the other ingredients, creating a delicious sauce. The Lonestar Skillet makes it OK to eat corn chips for breakfast and I love it.
The Addiction: French toast stuffed with mascarpone and topped with salted caramel and vanilla crème sauce, toasted coconut and fresh strawberries. Oh yea! The mascarpone (Italian cream cheese) blended with the flavors of salted caramel, vanilla creme, and coconut was delicious. I liked that this french toast wasn’t super sweet. The fresh strawberries added a seasonal brightness that lightened up this potentially heavy dish. I see why it is called the Addiction!

Funky Monkey: Chocolate chips and sliced bananas, drizzled with peanut butter & chocolate sauce. Who doesn’t like chocolate, peanut butter, and banana?! I just wish the peanut butter and chocolate weren’t so thick because it made it a bit tricky to eat. Perhaps a sauce would’ve been a better option, but the flavor combo was delicious as expected!
Berry Burst: Fresh seasonal berries and house made whipped cream. Classic pancake choice and perfect if you want something simple and on the healthier side.
CinnAmazing: White chocolate, candied pecans & cinnamon butter, drizzled with vanilla crème sauce. The candied pecans were just enough sweet to balance the light, vanilla creme sauce. The cinnamon butter was delicious and complimented the flavors well. Let’s be honest, I could eat cinnamon butter by itself, with a spoon.
The Crunchy F.T: Brioche French toast coated in corn flakes and served with warm maple syrup. Garnished with seasonal berries. My favorite! Simple, but the crunch of the corn flakes was just enough to give this dish a little pizazz without being over the top. Plus, coating things in corn flakes is very nostalgic for me. My mom used to use corn flakes as a breading for chicken so you can imagine my excitement when my eyes spotted this french toast on the menu.
One of the things Cracked is missing is a nice cold mimosa. But, wait, there’s more! I learned that Cracked: An A.M. Addiction will be serving Bloody Mary’s and other various morning cocktails in a few months. Woo Hoo! If you haven’t made it to Cracked: An A.M. Addiction, plan a trip right away.
